FUNDRAISING GUIDELINES

Thank you for your interest in raising funds for Monash Health. Our community plays a vital role in raising funds and promoting awareness of the Monash Health Foundation.

We are ever grateful for the wonderful generosity of those around us and encourage fundraising activities undertaken by organisations, individuals or community groups.

The Monash Health Foundation team is here to provide guidance to help your activity be a success.

Fundraising Activity/Event Approval

To ensure your fundraising activity complies with Victorian legislation, we ask that you complete the Fundraising Activity / Event Application Form and submit to the Monash Health Foundation for approval or  register your activity online https://www.fundraiseforpurpose.org

You will be asked question about your activity, expenditure and projected income (fundraising).

Fundraising activities can NOT commence on behalf of Monash Health without prior approval, in accordance with the Fundraising Act 1998 Vic www.legislation.vic.gov.au/in-force/acts/fundraising-act-1998/042

Once your activity is approved, the Monash Health Foundation may provide you with a letter confirming your authority to raise funds on its behalf.

Once the Monash Health Foundation issues you an Authority to Fundraise, that letter and these Guidelines will form the basis on which your fundraising activity can proceed.

You can find Monash Health Foundation’s Fundraising Guidelines here.

These guidelines provide important information about;

  • your responsibilities

  • restricted activities

  • insurance & liability

  • raffles

  • branding, marketing and media

  • finance, banking & receipts

  • seeking donations

  • permissions, licences and permits

Some Helpful Tips

Get the right people to help you -  Planning a successful event can be time consuming. Try not to do everything on your own. Share the workload and recruit enthusiastic and dedicated volunteers.

Set your target - Knowing what area of Monash Health you’re raising money for will help determine your fundraising methods and your target audience. Make sure your cause/target is realistic and achievable.

Determine your target audience - A good understanding of your target audience is crucial to the success of your fundraising activity. This may determine factors such as the location of your fundraiser, the time that is to be held and the best way to communicate with them.

Set a timeframe -  Set yourself a planning timetable leading up to the event. Give yourself plenty of time to prepare for the fundraising activity and allow for unforeseen circumstances that may delay your preparation.

Determine the logistics  - Attention to detail is critical. Ensure you have ‘all bases covered’ and review the logistics of your event.

Promotion - Promotional and marketing material will bring your fundraising event to the attention of your target audience. All marketing material is to be approved by the Monash Health Foundation prior to distribution.

Have fun! - The best part about organising a fundraising activity is enjoying the experience and making a difference at the same time.

You have the power to change lives.
